Job Summary: Develops new or modified process formulations.  Defines processing or handling equipment requirements and specifications, and reviews processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture, fabrication, and evaluation of III-V materials. Position focus will be in the development of novel plasma-based semiconductor etching and deposition processes. Involvement in process implementation may begin at any step from initial development to full-scale manufacturing. Coordinates process design requirement review with appropriate engineering/scientific personnel to ensure compatibility of processing methods. Compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications. Oversee and sustain transition of newly developed sensors into production. Conduct time, material, and cost analysis of process and implement continuous improvement programs. May conceive and plan projects involving definition and selection of new concepts and equipment automation technology.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: · Manage process projects for quality development of III-V based infrared focal plane arrays, detector arrays, and silicon ROICs. · Provide sustaining engineering support and assist in continuous yield improvement exercises. · Develop new processes on both existing and new equipment, with an emphasis on development of plasma based etch and deposition processes in III-V materials. · Process T2SL, InGaAs & InSb wafers as required, including performance of photolithography, wet and dry etching, most thin film vacuum depositions for all levels of the T2SL, InGaAs & InSb processes. · Design and execute experiments in support of the above · Generation of presentations in support of process development plans/status · Responsible for documentation of process development tasks · Generate process and equipment work instructions · Assist in proposal activities · Feedback into the Engineering processes so they are constantly improved · Participate in customer programs where sensor and wafer development as required

Job Qualifications: · Bachelors of Science or equivalent in a science related field. · Minimum of 2 years of semiconductor process development experience. · Experience in the development of plasma based etch and deposition processes on III-V materials required. · Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.

Other Qualification: · Exceptional Process Development skills required to perform statistically designed experiments · Experience with Detector and Sensor Fabrication · Experience with the development of plasma based semiconductor etching processes. · Manufacturing and Yield Improvement experience is required · Excellent Communication Skills, Oral, Written and Listening to ensure effective dissemination of information to process team and organizational leadership. · Displaying strong personal Initiative and motivation is vital to achieve desired performance results with projects that support the organization.  · Decision Making & Problem Solving skills required:  effectively resolve multi-faceted problems, consistently identify, evaluate and present alternatives, risks, and consequences prior to making decisions.  · Strong Organization, Planning & Execution skills required to effectively develop and maintain schedules, maximize human or equipment resource productivity. Must display a strong personal commitment and responsibility to following-through on execution of assignments and commitments to ensure a successful conclusion in a timely manner.
